''As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. Whatever differs from this, to the extent of the difference, is no democracy''.
But, our 'busy' politicians have no time to think about such 'silly' notions.. We all know that, politics is a profession and in its true sense, a noble one. And this noble profession can now be seen almost everywhere. So, how can schools and colleges be left out. Being a college student, I can't stop myself from writing about 'Campus Politics'.
Election time equals to fun time in colleges as there are less classes and more campaigns. Those cheesy dialogues and extra wide smiles fixed permanently on their faces are still fresh in my mind. At that time, seeing their heads, you say, 'Oh look! They're coming..' Their enthusiasm, their energy, their efforts deserve true appreciation. But sadly, all this can be seen only in their words, not in action. Soon after elections, you can see no more 'bateesis'. Now, you have to do what they say even if you think it's not right. You are compelled to do what they order you to do. Your personal interests have 'zero' value here. You are forced to participate in rallies shouting slogans. And then you reach a situation where seeing their heads, you hide and say, 'Run! They're coming..'. They think they have won the election but I would say they are the real 'Losers'. If they were winners, then why did they have to force the students??. The real success of a party lies where the students support and stand by their leaders on their own will. There is no need to force them then.
Someone has rightly said that' You don't have to wait till your party's in power to have an impact on life at home and around the world.'
if we have elected them to work for the benifit of the college, then we have the right to correct them when they go wrong. Ofcourse, they have the ability, courage, energy and enthusiasm to work for the betterment of the students and no doubt they are doing it. But, they should not ignore the fact that sometimes 'POWER' makes them 'BLIND'. Wintson Churchill said that '' The people pf Asia were slaves, because they had not learned how to pronounce the word 'NO'.'' same is the case here, if we learn to say 'NO' for what we think is not right, we can open their eyes. Don't we have the right to do so???
''The goal in the end is not to win elections,
The goal is to change society''
